38 Degree East, Lounge Bar/Pub, Powai, Mumbai

One stop for awesomeness if looked for, it has to be 38 Degree East in Powai. The ambiance takes you to a different world altogether which is a mix of Iranian, Mexican and Italian cuisines/cultures in short. Enjoyed every moment there. I was invited as a Food Blogger and they really know how to give you a good time. Right from food to drinks, perfection is the word. Every staff serving the delicious dishes exactly know what they are serving. It’s with such style and enthusiasm that the customers are looked after.
With some amazing drinks served with amazing presentation. The show stopper for me was Torafuku which tasted a lot like pina colada, the twist to it was banana flavour along with a small banana and cherry as garnishes to look great with. Then the Cranberry Delight which was a delightful sight in itself as it was served in a two faced glass with fumes coming out of it.
Berry Wine Popsicles was another cocktail that too caught my attention. It is actually served with a popsicle waiting to melt its way into the wine.
Pauva looked refreshing and like a rockstar sits infornt of you, wanting you to grab it and drink it.
In the Appetizers they didn’t fall short with Vegetarian choices Singapore Spindles and Wanton Nachos, they’re full of cheese and melts in your mouth leaving you wanting more.
Pawns Wantons Cup was the star in the non vegetarian department and Jhinga Pakoda. Which you can not just have one.
I was excited to see Sushi fly, its way on my table. Yes I say that as it’s severed on a aeroplane which actually moves.
Lamb burger parked on table as it’s inside a school bus whose roof has to be opened to grab one.
The main course was simply the best with Veg Thai Curry (red) and 7 Jewel Rice. I personally loved Nasi Goreng to settle for one.
Love love love for me was Pisang Goreng and Fruit Filled Baked Wantons with Vanilla Ice Cream.
In short if you are looking for a meal and want to drink your heart out this is the place for you.
They are unapologetic about the drinks they spoil you with. Specially the price tag goes easy on your wallet and you will surely drink more than you planned to settle for.
The decoration (interiors) are mindblowingly fresh and the roof top transports you into another enchanting world.
So guys and girls get ready for fun experince along with some great food.
38 Degree East is the place for you.

Paradise For Foodies

Well this is one place which I can never forget Right from the first time I set my foot in Singapore I was introduced to Newton Food Centre (Newton Circus earlier)

It has some really good seafood at your disposal First take a walk around the whole place and see and digest the fact that there’s so much to eat and there’s so little we know (Well not all but just saying) I was taken by surprise there are live crabs looking at you to have them (I guess)

A table with a picture of Himalaya products specially made for Singapore locals and the tourist as well pasted on it welcome me It was a little treat to see it and quite interesting not to click a picture with it Colorful and Adventurous to the core

We started out eating adventure with the very lovely Baby Kailan Stir Fry it’s something I can swear by and it’s love love love kind of a feeling with the very first sight of it You have to grab a bite to believe it.

Followed with some mysterious looking Bloody Cockles some people love it and some can’t stand the smell of it One has to develop a taste for it or else they are just rubber like and chewy My take on it avoid it if you are the safe eater and if you not then go for it You will love it for sure.

Next came String Ray BBQ well the sauce on it was to die for and the fish is so nice it feels like it gives it’s flesh too easily to you to hog on it Simple and tasteful to the core I loved it for sure

We did try our hands on Prawn  Fired Rice that we ordered for our low of adventure friend who was in for a shock with every dish we ordered This one was for him  but to his bad luck it was very plain and tasteless I would like to add I still loved it pawns which were well cooked, juicy and soft

The star of the night for me was Oyster Omlette very common in Taiwan and places in love to eggs and oyster. It’s wonderful and easy on your palate to eat We have a repeat of the same As one wasn’t enough (for the bukhads that we are)

So the next time you are in Singapore and hungry for some serious seafood (you get chicken as well) head straight to Newton Food Centre don’t look left and right as that’s the place to be LIKE it’s said When in Rome be like the Romans….When in Singapore eat like a Singaporean and keep me posted if you liked what you eat at Newton Food Centre

Creating Monster Runners

A few years back I had heard from people the passion and love for running. The charity which running could generate and the awareness running could create for a cause. There are causes like situations always around. At times, when it was difficult to talk about Breast Cancer and Prostate Cancer there were events where people ran and spoke and spread the message. There are small events with big causes and there are big events with no cause at all. Running can be for leisure as well (for sure).  Then, why the pretense and the claims?  I participated in Runaway Floods, a marathons for flood relief held in Chennai, which didn’t make tall claims and have a huge turnout but the organizers showed enough support to all the runners and their contribution towards the money raised for the flood hit places in India back in October 2014. IMG_20141019_073724

There was a big event, Chennai Night Marathon D2D, which supported Love Your Liver Foundation, an initiative by Neville Endeavour’s Foundation in Chennai. Runners poured in with all their dedication and love for the same a widely successful marathon.  Every year Khushi Pediatric Therapy Centre organizes, Autism Cause-a-thon, in awareness for people suffering with Autism. Alongside there is Ace Runner Sayuri Dalvi who organizers a free run for the same awareness. Runners registered in large numbers blocking the spot but not all turned up because it’s a free run and they don’t lose anything by not going and running ( the event had lovely finishers medals and good arrangements with proper refreshments). The Regulars who run with heart The regulars were there the lot who run for passion and care. Joints and Motion have excellent runs arranged every year for various causes. This year I also participated in small events like 8th  Delhi Cross Country Race (Vikaspuri runners) and Fitness Run (Radius 18), which provided finishers medals, T shirts ( on request) and refreshments as well. Pinkathon, made it possible for many women achieve their dreams of running along with Breast Cancer as the core cause I also saw free registrations for daughters along with their mother not only that domestic help and under privileged women were also provided with an platform  to participate and experience the women power in full force. Well enough said about the few mentioned runs. What makes the other runs so expensive and troublesome to participate? Crowd pulling translates into crowd arm twisting with many hurdles put in front of the runners to participate each year. Then what’s the whole point? At SCDM, Dubai provides excellent goodie bag, finishers medal, t-shirt and refreshments along with making people aware about various health issues (same with Standard Chartered Bangkok Marathon) then what sets SCMM on a different level which makes it hard to digest the fact that it’s one of the most expensive run in Mumbai and provides great crowd support which again is the every Mumbaikar who decides to step out and support the runners. Which again means it is the Mumbaikar, which makes the whole experience so good not the mere mention of the organizers.I’m not in protest with SCMM but fail to understand their stand. The overhype does play an important part here. This year the road leading to the ground after the run was extremely jam packed with exhausted runners God lone knows if a runner would have had a problem what would have happened. But again it remains the pulse of every Mumbai runner to at least once in a lifetime run at this event. It’s out of this addition every year the runners with a pinch of salt register and go ahead with marathon.  It’s love for running which makes the event so successful every year and on everyone’s wish list. We need to participate in small as well as big events (agreed) but some justification would be fare, when compared to the other events around the world by the same organizers on the same scale and even better. The whole year one can observe tons of qualifiers runs mushrooming, which talks only about participating in the biggest running event of the year. Okay it’s good to see people up and running but what happens when a fellow runner needs your support. No one stops as their PB (Personal Best) goes for a toss, which means when you register and say you are in it for health fitness and a particular cause, you easily ignore the fellow runner as stopping would affect your personal cause which again is the only PB. I still remember last year when I participated in Pondy Marathon (its first time ) as soon as we started and entered the dark lanes I twisted my ankle and fell flat on the street, other runners around who noticed stopped to help me regain my balance and few called out for help, then what even wrong with Mumbaikars , is the obsession for PB fatal.
One can see Ace Runners like Raj Vadgama, Milind Soman, Sunil Shetty, Sangeeta Shetty, Sayuri Dalvi, Giles Drego, Ram Venkatraman, Venkatraman Pichumani (who never leaves you unanswered when asked for advise) and Nikhil Shah to name a few,  helping and motivating fellow upcoming new runners with their humble ways and a smile. Then, what happens to the over excited, over achieving and over talented runners who ignore the other runner.  Asking each and every runner, what exactly are they running for? What are their running goals?  What is the biggest achievement as a marathon runner? What makes them feel fit? What inspiration they leave behind as a runner?  And lastly, WHY?  The intention behind me writing all this is Just to appeal and tell everyone that every event is important and as happening as you make it. By being there for one another as runners we make a different human race altogether, getting more and more people out on roads to help them develop themselves and realize their goal in life. It’s important to run on the streets together but it is also important to run along. It is not only Personal Best which will give you satisfaction end of the day but the Personal Best Stories you would tell with each marathon and that will make it special not only for you but everyone associated with you.

So be a Responsible Runner not a Proud Runner.

Run, Running, Ran…

Running 2014

The year that was and will always remain special to me. In the beginning I was a little lost trying to hold on to my ability to manage flights and running soon enough got on to it. From early mornings to super early mornings to night to mid night to flat roads to uneven roads to vertical climbs to hot and cold and rainy days. I braved it all and just ran.
From Mumbai to Pune to Pondicherry to Chennai, tried covering all my favorite places. Mid year involved my whole family into running and often spoke endlessly to motivate not only family but friends too. Gave back to the running community by getting my women friends run the women special marathon (Pinkathon) at end of this year.
I loved the amazing journey and the fact, I inspired non runners to get up and look at running as not only a sport but a way to fitness at doorstep. Happy Running people Stay Fit Stay Blessed…

“Retail Therapy a Real Therapy”

She is 24 (remember you are or once were 24 too the dreams you saw and feelings you got are no different) and hasn’t seen life yet… Together we can and we should make a difference. Life takes a full turn just when something happens out of the blue but there are times when things are not in our control. We have to support and stand by the chosen ones. They are gods children and our inspiration in one way or the other. Yuvraj Singh a ace cricketer came ahead to launch these slick bags along with You we can foundation. Its not only our good will but our responsibility to come ahead and do our bit. Its an ocean of people suffering quietly and helplessly out there.
On the other hand there are thankless people who just find faults and flaws in life. Now its your chance to be on the side you want to be.
Be a motivator Be a person you want to see.
Therefore, I have decided to tell the world about these causes and the efforts people put to put all this together.
Often we think why this happens or that happens but now is the time to just do and not look for answers which are meaningless. Try and get life to people as people are suppose to live a happy life. We as human race are not born to die meaningless or lead a worthless life. Do small things and do little things it’s more than enough. If everyone eats only tomato’s there would not be any tomato’s left. We all need each other and we all need you. Be the you in someone’s life.
There’s so much to do and there’s so little we can do.
Come and be the cause to push the Noble cause ahead.

Well after the very successful run last year in Puma Urban Stampede ’13, Mumbai I have gathered some courage to go ahead and be part of SCMM’14
It is also special as my mom who was a state level runner in her school days joins in to double the fun and takes my excitement to a different level
I hope we do well and get all the power to give our best As it is not for competition alone I run for Pico who has arranged this fabulous run in support of the NGO, Pratham which works towards the educating children
This makes my pleasure to be part of the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon more exciting
So fingers crossed and god bless everyone who is part of the marathon in some way or the else
